How do you add cable TV to your PC and be able to record?

Filed under: cable tv on your pc — admin @ 7:51 am

Cable TV is provided by Direct TV. Receiver box is piped to living room TV and another cable is ready to hook up to whatever. I want to connect to a PC and be able to record shows and store on PC and burn if possible.

First, you need a TV Tuner card for your PC. This allows you to capture the video to your PC. There are generally two types of cards, frame grabbers and cards that have encoders built in. Encoder cards are less taxing on your PC’s CPU, and are in general a better choice for most applications. But before you buy, you need to figure out which software choice you want to go with.

If you are running Linux you can use MythTV. And depending upon the type of reciever you have for DirecTV, you can also find modules to be able to change stations on the reciever through MythTV. And best of all, it’s free. There’s also Freevo, another Linux PVR solution.

For Windows, there are many choices. There’s SageTV, Beyond TV, and WinDVR to name a few.

I would suggest you check out some of these choice, and determine the choice that is the best for you. (MythTV requires some linux knowledge. A novice can do it, but expect to invest some time on the learning curve.)

Is Satellite for TV PC Software availible Internationally?

Filed under: satellite tv for pc — admin @ 7:51 am

I travel the country for my job. I am in part of the National Sales and Marketing team for a major Hotel corporation. I was wondering if Satellite for TV on PC software works internationally. It is important for me to stay up to date with my favorite television series while I am traveling. I am a major fan of Big Brother, 24, NFL, and so much more I can’t afford to miss. I am interested in hearing back from anyone who has used this software internationally if at all.

yes. It is far more useful than just watching TV channels.

Filed under: satellite tv software — admin @ 9:55 am

I don’t mind paying, but I mean which one. There are so many. Anyone have experience using these and are the channels real, live like on TV?

Use this one http://watch-sports-tv.com

This is what I have on my computer and it works for sports, has live channels and new stuff is always available.
